Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions or simply feeling overwhelmed, counseling can provide a safe space to process what is happening and move forward with hope.
She has a passion for meeting people where they are and guiding them through life's challenges. Her goal is to provide a safe space for clients to grow while feeling heard, valued, and supported.
I am a two-time cancer survivor (cervical & melanoma), and my husband is a colon cancer survivor. While navigating these diagnoses, I realized the importance of having a safe space to work through feelings, fears, and concerns.
Through my own journey with counseling I have processed my marriage, being a mom, and trying to navigate the stresses that go along with being a woman, wife, mother, daughter, and friend. I have learned that giving myself grace and working with what is in my control has been a game changer for me.
As I stepped back into work, I wanted a career that not only gave me purpose but would allow me to provide a safe space for others during their time of need.
I started my journey toward becoming a counselor in 2019 and graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Clinical Mental Health in 2022. Before graduation, I had the privilege of completing my practicum and internship at Samford University. I worked as a clinician in a group private practice for three years before opening Willowbrook Counseling in 2026.
I graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education in 2002 and taught kindergarten for several years before stepping away to focus on raising my family.
As my children became more independent, I realized it was time to step back into a career. I no longer felt called to teach so I accepted a position as a Billing and Office Manager for a counseling practice in my hometown.
During that time, my boss and mentor encouraged me to consider going back to school to become a counselor.
These experiences continue to shape the way I support my clients today.
Their limbs are uniquely flexible, able to bend without breaking, which is why many people associate them with overcoming hardships and emotional struggles. As a therapist, I often see my clients demonstrate that same resilience.
When choosing a name for my practice, I wanted something that represented the experience of counseling. When I came across the willow tree, I realized it did just that. For centuries, willow trees have symbolized healing, strength, growth, adaptability, and the ability to withstand difficult situations.
That is when the name Willowbrook came to me. It encompasses everything I wanted this practice to represent. My hope is that clients leave our time together knowing they are strong and that although life may bring a bend, they will not break.
Together, we can cultivate the healing and strength needed to navigate life's difficult seasons.
"For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow like willows by flowing brooks."
I also wanted to incorporate a spiritual element into the name. While researching Scripture, I came across Isaiah 44:3-4:
My hope is that every client leaves feeling supported, seen and empowered to move forward with lasting growth and healing.
Every client is different, which is why I use integrated therapy and evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.
I believe in working with clients on a holistic level, making sure to incorporate their psychological, social, and spiritual needs while providing hope and encouragement.
